How do I use Google Analytics with Recapture?

Google Analytics allows you to track and monitor campaign data for each email in Recapture through our simple integration of UTM parameters.

Each campaign can support separate campaign parameters so you can watch each individual email and determine its performance right in your Google Analytics data along with other campaigns you're running at the same time (e.g. Facebook Ads)

Setting Up Google Analytics UTM Parameters in Recapture

To set this is up is very simple.  First, visit your campaigns dashboard of choice:

The steps are very similar for all of them.  Here's the specific one for Review Booster, but you do the same thing for Abandoned carts or Winbacks.
Once you're in the campaign dashboard, hover over the campaign you want to use and click Edit:

This will open up the Campaign Email Editor.  At the top left, click the Settings for the campaign:

This opens the Email settings for your specific campaign.  Scroll toward the bottom and you'll see the UTM parameters:

Fill in your parameters accordingly.  Be sure to click save when you're done.

If you're new to UTM parameters, they're used like this:

  • UTM Source:  Where the campaign is coming from, e.g. Recapture, Facebook, Instagram.  You can put any string in here you like, don't use comma or semi-colon (reserved characters for an URL)
  • UTM Medium:  What is being used to send the campaign, in this case you probably want to use email.  You can put any string in here you like, don't use comma or semi-colon (reserved characters for an URL)
  • UTM Campaign:  The name of the campaign--something like Abandoned Carts (US), or Winbacks or Review Reminder 3 months.  Again, you can put any string in here you like, don't use comma or semi-colon (reserved characters for an URL)
