How to collect mobile numbers at checkout automatically

This article will help you setup your store to collect mobile numbers at checkout.  This allows you to reach out to your customers via Recapture's SMS order updates or abandoned cart notifications by getting a number we can use to contact them from the checkout form.

How to add mobile number to Shopify Checkout

Enable SMS Consent at Checkout

To begin, navigate to your Shopify store. Then, click Settings at the bottom of the left sidebar. 

In the Settings page, click Checkout

In the Marketing Consent section, click the box for Show an option to subscribe at checkout for SMS marketing

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Save

Your checkout page will now have a section similar to the one shown below. 

Now Recapture will be able to see these mobile numbers, associate them to your abandoned carts and orders, and use this data to reach out to your customers for order updates or abandoned cart texts.
