Overview of Teams, Accounts and Roles in Recapture
Recapture now supports the notion of team-based access for Recapture accounts as of September 2025.
What does this mean for you?
First, it means that you can share your Recapture account with multiple members of your existing store/company and not have to share a login. That's important for a variety of reasons—including security as well as access to sensitive areas that may not be required for the member's intended use (e.g. giving your accounting team access to invoices shouldn't allow them to modify or delete your email campaigns)
Some vocabulary we use that you need to know
Recapture relies on the notion of a Team, which has Users and these Users have a Membership to the Team. That Membership comes with access privileges (a Role).
Here are the terms we use in Recapture and what they mean:
- A
Userbelongs to aTeamthrough aMembership. - The
Membershipcan have one or moreRoles associated with it. - The
Membershipgives access to certain features or specific resources. (e.g. the ability to see invoices or edit email campaigns) - When adding a new
Membership, anInvitationis also created and sent via email. This is how you add new people to yourTeam - The
Invitationcan be claimed by either a new or existingUser, even if the email address doesn’t match where the invitation was delivered too. - The
Invitationgoes away once claimed.
With that in mind, there are a number of things you can administer in Recapture's new Team setup. Here are a number of articles to help with those common tasks.
Administering Teams, Roles and Users in Recapture
First, invite new members to your team.
Once you have members on the team, you can edit their roles, remove them from the team, or make them an owner.
Your new team members can view their profile and change their password.
Once you've invited members to join your team, they will need to know how to Accept an Invite from Recapture, which you can send this link to help with: https://docs.recapture.io/article/127-how-to-accept-an-invite-to-join-a-recapture-account
